Description

These ginger and cinnamon cookies are perfect to make around the holidays. The traditional shape of little people makes for a festive and adorable treat, though you can use any cookie cutter you like. In this version, the cookies get an egg wash and a sprinkle of sugar for a delicate and classic finish. If you would like to make them extra special, you can make a simple powdered sugar glaze to top the cookies with once they are baked.

Ingredients

230 grams flour
100 grams sugar
1 tablespoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
125 grams butter (cold)
1 eggs

Directions

1Preheat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.
2Combine the flour, sugar, ginger, and cinnamon and mix well.
3Form a hole in the middle of the mix and place the butter and the egg.
4Work the mix with your hands until it becomes a malleable dough that you can form into a ball.
5Wrap the cookie dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate it for about 30 minutes.
6Place the cookie dough on a floured surface and flatten it using a rolling pin.
7Cut out the cookies in the desired shapes.
8Brush them lightly with egg white and dip them in sugar.
9Bake the cookies for approximately 20 minutes.
